How to Cook for Beginners with Simple Cooking Recipes is not all that impressive when it comes to writing a cookbook for novice cooks. To start with the cookbook should have photo depicting what the recipe should look like when completed. If you are learning how to cook, it helps to see what the end result should look like. As best as I can tell, there are few or no photos. Some of the recipes do not include complete directions on how to prepare the recipes. If you are learning how to cook, you need clear, concise directions on how to prepare the recipe.
Also, some of the cooking terms are non-standard. In the Chicken Noodle Soup recipe the author recommends boiling chicken breasts in a frying pan. If you were to do this, the chicken breasts would be tough. You should simmer the chicken breasts instead. (The difference between boiling and simmering is important. Boiling means the liquid has bubbles that break at the top of the liquid while simmering means the bubbles gently rise to the top but do not break).
There is no active table of contents. This is not a biggie but it would help novice cooks to easily navigate through the cookbook.
Recommend with caveats given.

How to Cook for Beginners with Simple Cooking Recipes edition by Jenna Dahl Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
Even though I am fairy competent in the kitchen, many of these techniques are not required often enough to breed confidence when using them. So even though it is meant for beginners, I use it to help remind me of many of the basics. The conversion was handy and easy to use also.

The recipes in this book are so easy to make and so delicious. I have made the lasagna, the chicken noodle soup, the taco treat, the meatballs, and the ice cream punch to name a few and my family and guests have absolutely loved them. I also enjoy having the conversion and ingredient charts at my fingertips. It's a great book to have whether you have been at this for a long time or are just starting out. I highly recommend it!
Yes, that's right! I've recently retired and am just getting around to searching for some great, and easy, recipes to practice my developing cooking skill with. I started with the Tuna Hotdish and it was easy AND delicious! I also know I will be using a few of the conversion tables provided in the book. I would highly recommend this book to all cooks ... young and old!
